Walther LP200 Information

  • Good evening,

I have acquired a Walther LP200 and would like to gather some information on it as there isn’t much to learn here in the UK.
Any information is welcome, I’m particularly keen to know why some of them have vented barrels and others don’t?
    Thank you

    Mike

  • hi mike
the walter LP 200 is the missing link between the older CP1 / CP2 and more modern "pre compressed air" pistols, so the cp1 was the first generation of air pistols with a pcp tank.
there were at first - from the inventor of this concept - Senfter M84
then steyr mannlicher, Walther cp1, Feinwerkbau c20

over time more and more benefits were included, often named differently to avoid legal affairs between manufacterers:
    - Absorber: inhilates the recoil (caused by accelrating the pellet)
    - Diffusor: reduces the turbulences of the air / CO2 following the pellet out of the barrel
    - vented barrel (in german: Entlastungsbohrungen): reduce the excess pressure of air/co2 at the last inch of the barrel // in combination with diffusor
    - adjustable with of the front sight
    - adjustable with of the back sight
    - swingable front and back sight

all of these benefits are usally only available in the "high end edition" of the Airpistol. so some of them may not be included in budget versions.

to be honest: a well trained shooter needs none of this add ons. but to become a good shooter, it will help tremendously

why co2 and / or compressed air? co2 have some issues at filling the tank, reduced pellet speed at temperatures below 0°C, and so on.
filling the air tank from larger bottle is easy and safe. even for Teens.

    greetings, Daniel

Nein werte kollegen, ich stehe zu meinem wenig geübten Englisch und verwende auch keine KI zum übersetzen...

  • Thank you for the information, I am a keen pistol 10m shooter and currently use a Walther LP500, I’ve picked up this LP200 just for some fun but we don’t have many information about them in the UK.

    Cheers
